Advent at Rønningen
Advents Kick Off with pepperkaker, snowballs, Christmas tree, Nisse and other wonderful costumes, The Julekalender, massages in the morning…The Advent at Rønningen is one of the best times of the year!
Advents Kick Off
The Highlight of the Advent time at Rønningen till now was definitive the Advents Kick Off with creative costumes and a range of funny and amusing competitions.
Concerning the “Advent costumes” the students were imaginative and motivated: Harald came as Christmas package, Andreas and Geir as Mary and Joseph, Hanne as Christmas tree, Kristine was one of the Nisse, but the most curiosity aroused Ingrid. “What are you???” To this question she had to listen a lot of times, till finally somebody shouted “You are a snowball, right?”
In addition to the costumes the different “table groups” had to deal with a range of competitions. Who can eat the most bananas? Who is able to eat a spoon full of cinnamon? How is it to feed a partner with pepperkaker while you see nothing or is it possible to drop a piece of banana in an opened mouth? All questions for which we found answers during the evening!

And the winner is….
The end of the evening was marked with a Christmas Song Performing competition. Every group had to sing, play or tell a different song and each group was very motivated to be the best, but finally the mouse family which was dancing around the Christmas tree won the game.
The most difficult decision had the members of the jury when they had to find the best costume of the evening. All were great but the Star of the Advents Kick Off was the Christmas tree! Congratulation!!!!

Nisse and massages
Everyday in the morning the advent calendar has a new surprise ready! One time it was to sing a Christmas song, the next time a morning stretch, but the best was to give his neighbour a massage. Definitive the right way to start in a relaxed and interesting advent day!
As soon as the dinner is finished the students hurry for not missing the start “The Julekalender”. This is really funny, but not only for the Norwegian students, also for the international ones. Although they don’t understand everything of the dialogs (a lot of understanding for Nisse Günther when he says “Shit, it’s på norsk”), the song “It’s hard to be a Nissemann” is already part of their days and some ask “Why do we don’t have something like that at home?”
You see, it’s not hard to be a student at Rønningen during the Advent!
